This was a good PBS documentary on gang violence and gave some background on the Watts Riots that I hadn't been exposed to. This film was almost like the Hughes Brothers "American Pimp" but with gunz and death instead of bitches and money. The craziest part for me was when one dude said he knows people who haven't left the same 5 block radius in years because they don't want to get out of their gang's territory. In LA? Damn. They also gave some huge percentage of people in South Central who have never seen the Pacific Ocean, even thought the beach is less than an hour away. 15,000 people have been killed in gang violence in the last 30 years in South Central, and everyone in the press is freaking out about swine flu. When you see documentaries like this, it reminds you how much farther the path to equality still must travel.
